Kamari Smith-Capps, born on January 18, 2006, in Abilene, Texas, left this world far too soon. His vibrant spirit touched the lives of many, and his memory will forever remain etched in our hearts.
Kamari was a beacon of kindness and empathy. His passion for helping others knew no bounds, and he had an innate ability to bring laughter and comfort to any room. Whether it was a witty joke, sharing “footprints in the sand” with those he loved, or a comforting smile, Kamari’s presence uplifted those around him. The great outdoors held a special place in Kamari’s heart. He reveled in the beauty of nature, finding solace in its tranquility. Animals were Kamari’s confidantes. He cherished their innocence and understood their unspoken language. His bond with furry companions was unwavering, especially with his cat.
High school was a whirlwind of achievements for Kamari. He excelled both on and off the field. As a football player, he earned the title of freshman player of the year. In addition to football, he played basketball, saxophone in the band, was in the process of obtaining his barber certification, and tackled challenging AP and Honors classes. His dedication was unmatched.
Kamari’s creativity and passion extended beyond his highschool life as well - his dream of attending vocational school for welding and fabrications was fueled by a passion for building and crafting that budded at a young age. He loved driving and working on his car, listening to his favorite music, skateboarding, bmx bikes, and science.
Juggling sports, academics, and a part-time job, Kamari epitomized responsibility. His commitment to his loved ones was unwavering. Whether it was cheering from the sidelines or sharing late-night conversations, Kamari’s loyalty knew no bounds.
Kamari is survived by his mother, Holly Capps; his father, Cedric Smith; his half-brother, Uriah Smith; his aunt Katrice Page; his uncle, Michael Page; his cousins, LaKendra, Kanisha, Demetrius, and Kendrell - along with many other extended family and friends.
