Karen D. Bemiss
April 20, 1950 – January 5, 2022
Karen Diane Bemiss of Marietta, Georgia, passed away January 5, 2022 in Plano, Texas, after a courageous battle from a sudden and unexpected heart attack. She was born April 20, 1950 in Dallas, Texas, to parents Eugene and Patsy Bemiss of Dallas.
As a result of her father being transferred to several states to manage sales territories, Karen attended public schools at Robert T. Hill Middle School in Texas as well as Morristown High School and Hanover Park High School in New Jersey. She graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, with a degree in English.
In 1972, the family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked for a private business owner, Buddy, and then for Graphic Art Service in the fast-paced commercial printing pre-press industry in Metro Atlanta. In 1998, she became a Coldwell Banker realtor, serving clients in the Atlanta area for 24 years. With her detailed and hands-on realty style of helping families navigate the homeownership process, she was well-known for her passion in making home buying or selling as enjoyable and hassle-free as possible.
All who knew Karen know that she was a loving, no-nonsense, practical lady who deeply loved the Lord. An avid student of the Bible, she attended Mount Paran North Church in Marietta for almost 50 years, where she sang in the choir, attended the Real Issues and Real Answers small group, and served in various ministries.
She is preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Patsy Bemiss, and is survived by her sister, Donna Bemiss Penn of Plano, Texas, and her husband Michael Penn. A private family graveside service was held in Dallas. Mount Paran Church North will host a special memorial service in Marietta to honor Karen on Sunday, February 13, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mount Paran North Church.
