Karen Lynnette Biewer's Obituary
Karen Lynnette Biewer died on Saturday, September 29, 2018. She eventually lost her brave battle with ALS. Karen was born in Bettsville, Ohio on June 23, 1946, to Charles Grimes and Joyce (Suffecool) Grimes. She married Edward Biewer on September 9, 1967. They were married for forty-five years until he died on October 5, 2012. They had two sons, Michael and David. Michael is married to Mihaela Stefan and lives in Garland, Texas. David is married to Maria (Roque) Biewer and lives in Burlingame, California. Karen has two grandchildren, Brian and Kayla, from David and Mimi’s marriage. Karen was preceded in death by her parents and sister Janet Bleckinger. She is survived by her sister-in-law Linda Williamson of Richardson, Texas and Sue Hess of Pensacola, Florida.After raising Michael and David, Karen heroically returned to school and earned her degree in nursing. She worked as a dialysis nurse for many years in Ohio and Texas before retiring.In addition to loving her family, Karen enjoyed many crafts including quilting, sewing, and knitting. She also enjoyed baking cakes, especially for her grandchildren. She had a gift of talking to people. She would often initiate a conversation with family by saying, “let’s visit”, which was the cue for everyone to talk about what was occurring in their lives. Her joy of talking to everyone was especially hard as she lost her ability of speech as her ALS progressed.There will be a visitation for Karen from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Restland Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7 PM.The funeral Mass for Karen be at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Saint Joseph Catholic Chuch in Richardson with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett.Funeral arrangements for Ms. Karen Lynnette Biewer have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
