Karen Lynn Knappenberger Holt's Obituary
Karen Lynn Knappenberger Holt passed away peacefully the morning of August 7th, 2023 after a lengthy illness.
Karen was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 24th, 1951, the oldest child of Maxine and Clayton Knappenberger. She moved to Dallas as a young child with her parents and younger brother and sister, Alan and Laura. She attended elementary and middle schools in Dallas and graduated from W.T. White High School. She then attended the University of Texas where she met her future husband, Stephen Holt. At Texas, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree.
After graduation she and Steve married and made their home in Plano where Karen taught 8th grade English at Carpenter Middle School for over 30 years. She was a devoted educator and early in her teaching career, she earned a Master’s Degree at the University of North Texas.
Karen was a kind, sweet person who loved animals, especially cats. She had a life long love of books and was an avid reader all her life. Karen also enjoyed following sporting events and sharing those experiences with her beloved father.
Karen was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Alan Knappenberger. She is now survived by her husband of 47 years, Steve, her beloved cat, Sweetie, her sister, Laura Myers and Laura’s husband, Drew Myers, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Anne Holt, her sister-in-law, Bonny Knappenberger, and her brother-in-law, Paul Holt, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Solstice Senior Living
Center in Plano and especially to Lilian, for the wonderful and
compassionate care given to Karen during these last several years. A
memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 22nd in the
Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, TX.
