Karen J. Moore's Obituary
Born May 23, 1956 in Albany, New York to Nathan and Mary Johnson and passed away December 9, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. Karen is survived by sons, Winston Patterson, Marcus Patterson, Nicholas Patterson, Robert Moore, Jr.; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and sister, Daphne Johnson. In August 2000, Karen was officially accepted into Richland’s Cisco Systems Networking Academy Program. At the same time, she entered an information Technology Specialist Program offered through the Richland Skills Training Center (RSTC). After completing her training at the RSTC in February 2001 she served as a voluntary intern and assisted students in the RSTC G.E.D. program with their basic computer skills. In July 2001, she completed her studies and became a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). During her academic career, Karen was a Richland College student leader and ambassador and was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa International Academic Honor Society (November 2001); being selected to the 2001-2002 National Dean’s List and to the 2002 Texas All-State Academic Team. Next, Karen became a part-time employee for Richland’s Continuing Education Department as an Instructional Assistant in December 2001. In January 2003, she was asked to teach introduction to Networking. “This gave me my first opportunity to teach what I knew to others to do what I knew how to do. This opportunity also allow Karen to follow in her Mothers footsteps. Karen realized, “We never know what life may hold, but we must remember sunshine will come, if we just believe.” Karen’s family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service for Karen will take place at 2:30 on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
