So many great memories of your mom and grandma, Pia, Noe, Sophia, Christian, and Philip. Loved her sense of humor and that she made a point to celebrate all the good things in life. She stood up for what was right in the world and did not back down. I admire her strength of character and determination to persevere in her career, despite the odds. Through her, we all learned to reach higher and to also take time to celebrate.

I remember a lunch we had at her home near Lake Michigan many years ago when we were picking up Sophie for Girl Scout camp. Your mom prepared a beautiful lunch for us, and we had so many laughs that day. I will hold that memory dear for a long time.

I posted a memory, but I no longer see it. I'll do my best to re-write it. Sorry, if you see it twice (I mean it every time;-). I was blessed to know Karin through many eyes. She was mom to Philip, Christian, and Pia, and a mom larger than life to Wendy, Janice, and me. She was Moor Moor to her grandchildren (and made me feel special as Madrina). She insisted on hats for weddings and champagne for toasts. She was as formidable as the Vikings who navigated the ships she salvaged, and she was master of her craft as doctor/surgeon. She believed we could be and do anything. She gave life with her words in the same way she cared for lives in the hospital or brought her garden to life with her careful tending. She taught me to make glogg in the winter, and she poured sauvignon blanc for my daughter and me to rescue us from the Miami heat. She celebrated life whole-heartedly and taught us joy in every situation. Her spirit is too great to be gone. Instead, it lives in heaven and in each of us whom she encountered. To Karin! Skal! Erin

I was blessed to have seen Karin through many eyes. She was mom to Pia, Philip, and Christian & took on a role of a mom bigger than life to Wendy, Janice, and me. She was Moor Moor to grandchildren (and she made me feel special as Madrina). She was Dr. to colleagues and patients to whom she extended expertise and care. She was exuberant in celebration and encouraging through trials. She insisted on hats for weddings and champagne for toasts. She taught me to make glogg in winter and poured Sauvignon Blanc to rescue my daughter and me from the Miami heat. Her belief that we could anything took root and bloomed in all of us like the flowers she tended in her garden. She had no tolerance for limiting beliefs. She had the fortitude of the Vikings who navigated the ships she salvaged, and the brilliance of the master she was at her craft. Karin’s unique spirit is too powerful to end. She lives on in heaven and through all of us she encountered. Thank you, Karin, for your joy and love! Skal! Erin
