Karl Dumas Leslie's Obituary
Karl Dumas Leslie was born in Amarillo, Texas on July 19, 1966. He passed on June 2nd, 2022, in Breckenridge, Texas. He was 55 at his time of death.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ted Holland; grandmother, Sue Holland; father KD Leslie; and step father, Vernon Patton. He is survived by his mother, Laura Patton of Breckenridge, Texas; brother Wade Leslie (wife Bahareh Leslie) of Graham, Texas; brother Holland Smith (wife Michaela Smith) of Albany, Texas; niece Emma Belle Smith; nephew Patton Daniel Smith; uncle Tom Holland (wife Patti Holland); aunt Sheri Wooley (husband Joe Wooley); cousins Les Wooley, Laura Calhoun, Chance Wooly, Hank Holland, Leigh Singleton; and numerous other family members and close friends.
Karl grew up in Dallas, attended school in Highland Park, and went to Stephen F Austin for college. He was a talented and achieved photographer. In his early career he worked as a presidential photographer during the Bill Clinton administration. He had the pleasure to meet many other political figures including George Bush Sr, George Bush Jr, and Colin Powel. Karl was never shy with his political views and enjoyed engaging in debate. Karl was an avid hunter and fisherman. Some of his favorite fishing trips were to Alaska with his brothers, cousins and friends. He also cherished more recent fishing trips with his niece, nephew and younger second cousins. He loved being in the outdoors hunting and camping with family and friends. His favorite trips were rafting and camping trips in the Big Bend area with his brothers, cousins and friends. He also enjoyed watching golf and formula 1 car racing.
A celebration of Karl’s life will be held on Saturday, June 11th at 12pm at Restland in Dallas, Texas, located at 13305 Greenville Avenue. The memorial service will be held outdoors on the Abbey Lawn, and a reception with refreshments will immediately follow at the Restland Event Center. Family and friends are invited to attend in remembrance.
