Kate Alden Taylor's Obituary
Taylor, Kate Alden – Passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011. Kate was a loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend to many. She was born in Dallas on September 27, 1982, and spent most of her childhood in Allen where she developed lifelong friendships. She attended Lovejoy Elementary, Curtis Middle School, the Episcopal School of Dallas and graduated from Lakehill Preparatory School in 2001. A spirited, humorous, beautiful and talented person, Kate loved playing all sports, especially basketball and volleyball, and was an accomplished pianist and artist. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and Spanish from the University of Miami in 2005 and was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She pursued a career in graphic arts and advertising and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Art Institute of Dallas in 2009. Most recently, she was a Project Manager at Propulsion Labs. An avid Dallas Mavericks fan, Kate and her family attended the NBA finals and celebrated the championship victory. Always a child at heart with boundless energy, she enjoyed traveling, including time with friends and family at the lakehouse and in Miami. She always loved the beach and is at peace in God’s loving arms where the sun will always shine on her face. Kate is survived by her parents, Earl and LaWanda Taylor of Dallas, grandparents Clarence and Laverne McGilberry of Dallas, sister Wendi and husband Derek Fuller of Dallas, brother Dub and wife Mona of Austin, several aunts and uncles including Barbara Taylor of New York City, Beverly Swafford of Midlothian, Steve and Sally McGilberry of Plano, James and Sandra Flanagan of Allen, John and Gina McGilberry of Irving, James and Michelle McGilberry of Frisco as well as ten cousins, three nieces and one nephew. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 31, from 3 – 5 p.m. at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, August 1, at 10 a.m. at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland. Kate loved dogs, especially her beloved Patches, so in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the SPCA of Texas.
