Katharine "Cissy" Goodson's Obituary
GOODSON, Katharine Booth – “Cissy” Goodson passed away July 20th, 2022, after suffering a cardiac event. She was born on November 6th, 1956, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Charles Clinton Booth and Guyanne Tittle. She spent her formative years first in Corpus Christi, then on Flat Top Ranch near Walnut Springs, and finally in Dallas as a boarder at the Hockaday School (Class of 1975). While at Hockaday and for a few years after, she performed on stage at several Dallas Repertory theaters and at the University of Wyoming. She had a lifelong love for the theater and did modeling and voice work, where she earned a reputation as “one take Kate”. She was also a prolific writer, collaborating on screen plays for Warner Brothers and later, writing her own manuscripts.
Cissy was the incoming President of The Standard Club, a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, The Dallas Woman’s Club, The Marianne Scruggs Garden Club, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. A particular point of pride was her multiple Blue Ribbons awarded by the Texas State Fair for her Christmas Stocking Designs.
Cissy married David Goodson in November 2001 after dating for 6 years. While they loved to travel, their happiest times were with their family. Cissy was an extraordinary sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, playing each part to perfection. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clint and Guyanne, and her sister, Betsy Turner. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, David M. Goodson and her sons Beau Justice and wife Molly, and Clint Justice and wife Katy. Cissy was the perfect grandmother, and she leaves Henry and Maddie Justice and Charlie and Emma Justice to us, to keep her memory alive. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Rachel Goodson and Stephen Goodson, sister Caroline Norris and husband Matthew and their son Duke, niece Lisa Anastasi and husband Tim and their sons Brock and Walker. Her first husband, Glenn W. Justice Jr., with whom she had Beau and Clint, and his wife Linda remained friends.
Visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 31st, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the Incarnation at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 1st, 2022, with a reception to follow at the church.
