Katharine Waite's Obituary
WAITE, KATHARINE RUPARD peacefully went to be with her Lord January 26, 2012. She was born September 16, 1923 in Sedalia, Missouri to Robert B. and Marie S. Rupard. She went to University of Iowa with her husband and graduated at Southern Methodist University with a degree in home economics. She was preceded in death by her daughter Susan Waite Woodward and her parents. Survived by husband, Jerry Waite; daughter Carol Coleman, husband Calvin; son-in-law Alson Woodward; son, David Waite, wife Kelsa; grandchildren, Shawn Woodward, wife Cyndi, Steven Woodward, wife April, Scott Woodward, wife Jenni; Abby Wood, husband Jon; Ben Waite, and Andrew Waite; and ten great grandchildren. Kathy was married to the love of her life, Jerry M. Waite, for sixty-nine wonderful years. She excelled at her roles as wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She bestowed upon her family abundant gifts of her time, love and good cooking. Kathy is a gracious Christian lady whose legacy of faith and love impacted for eternity all those she encountered. She was a member of First Baptist Church Dallas for sixty-eight years. Some of the multiple ministries in which she participated included teaching children in Sunday School, Training Union and mission programs; Chapel Choir sponsor for thirty years; creation and preparation of puppets, costumes and sets for FBC productions; and active in WMU. She also worked for 25 years at Baptist General Convention of Texas. Family will receive friends on Monday, January 30, 2012 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the main sanctuary, First Baptist Church, Dallas.
