The fight had ended and now she was exhausted. She saw the sunset and the autumn leaves falling from the trees outside her window.
Lying down, she closed her eyes one final time.
When she awoke, she felt invigorated, alive as she had never been before!
There was no pain. Her vision was clear. She could hear the birds singing and the wind rustling through the leaves.
She heard the laughter of children outside her window and somehow had been transported back to her childhood home in Connecticut.
She saw her sisters Helen, Josie, Bernie and Sarah skipping rope and playing hopscotch.
Her brothers Johnny, Andy, Ray, Eddie and Joey were playing ball nearby.
She saw her mother pass by the kitchen window and smelled dinner cooking. A pie was cooling in the window.
"Come play with us, Kitty!" her siblings shouted. They were all so happy to see her!
She had missed them so badly.
She saw Steve and David, hers sons she had missed so much.
The sun was shining and a bright blue sky was spattered with puffy white clouds.
Behind her she could see the dark clouds and rain from the ones missing her. They were sad, but so relieved she was no longer in pain, with her Father once again.
There was no longer a reason to fight. There was no longer a reason for sadness. She knew those missing her would soon see her again.
She stepped forward from her room into the light.
She smiled.
She was home.
