Katherine Mae Vessels Bell:Born May 5, 1922, in Fannin County, TX; died June 29, 2019, in Garland, TX.Katherine was one of twelve children born to farmers Herbert Eugene Vessels and Mary Fadalia Wilkinson. She married Billy Joe Bell on January 5, 1941. They farmed in Fannin County until Billy was called to the Army Air Force in WW II. When Billy returned home, they initially moved to Dallas and later to Garland. She lived in their home on Old Orchard Rd. in Garland from June 1955 until September 2015, when she was moved to assisted living. (Sadly, she became a widow in 1983.) She loved her home on Old Orchard Rd., where she enjoyed gardening and would often spend the entire day working in her yard and garden. She was a faithful member of Axe Memorial Methodist Church in Garland.Katherine was a caring friend to many and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the mother of three children: Judy Matlock of Allen, Joe Bell (wife Barbara) of Dallas, and Janee Hall (husband Russell) of Garland. She was the grandmother to six: Jeff Matlock (wife June) of Southlake, Katheryn Moore (husband Alan) of Fort Worth, Jannean Lacy (husband Todd) of Plano, Stephanie Bell of Richardson, Ryan Hall (wife Cassandra)of Middleton, Wisconsin, and Beate Hall of Dallas. She was great-grandmother to seven: Patrick and Aidan Lacy, Elizabeth and Julia Moore, Maalik Song, Anderson, and Jackson Matlock.Katherine’s surviving siblings are Leeman Vessels of Paris, Ima Gene Vessels Parham of Mesquite, Mary Frances Vessels Simmons of Honey Grove, and Betty Vessels Anderson of Rochester, Indiana.On Saturday, July 6, a celebration of Katherine’s life will be held at Axe Memorial Methodist Church, 1700 W. Kingsley Rd. in Garland: visitation and lunch beginning at 12:00 and service at 1:30 at the church; burial at Restland at 3:30.Donations to Axe Memorial Methodist Church are welcomed in memory of Katherine.
