Kathleen Dodd's Obituary
Kathleen “Kathy” Dodd passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, and will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her unmistakable laugh, and the love she brought into everyday life.
She was born in September 1950, in Bonham, Texas, to Frances Catherine and Flay Houston Jester, the second of three daughters.
Kathy married the love of her life, Tom Dodd, in April 1982. They shared 32 devoted years of marriage before his passing. In their retirement years, they made their home at Holly Lake Ranch, where they enjoyed daily games of golf, hosting family for extended stays, and the beauty of East Texas—always ensuring everyone felt welcomed and well cared for. Kathy seldom mentioned that glorious day she achieved her hole-in-one on the course. She took great pride in her yard and could often be found in her rocking chair, taking in the stillness and watching the hummingbirds she faithfully kept fed. She loved her cats and would always take in the ones that needed a home. Kathy was also a loving caregiver for her Mom and Dad.
Kathy will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and ever-present laughter. The grandchildren loved their summers with Grandpa and Grandma Kathy. The nieces and nephews called that same special time “Camp Kathy”. They played board and video games, went golfing, fishing, and swimming. They went on field trips, did wood working projects and many other fun activities.
She is survived by her sisters, Gloria Bennet and son Glen Barnes, and Patricia “Pat” Spurlock and her daughter Angela Graham and husband Corey, sons Robert Stulken and James Dyess. Children, Tommy Glenn Baugh and his wife, Kristi; Darleen Madden and her husband, Kim; and Bruce Dodd and his wife, Sandra; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her great niece and two great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances Catherine and Flay Houston Jester, Nephew Richard Roberts and her loving husband, Tom Dodd.
A private family ceremony will be held, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Tom Dodd.
The family is deeply grateful for the longstanding, loving care provided by Bently Assisted Living in Mesquite, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
