Kathryn “Chic” Bargsley Welch, age 95, of McKinney, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, September 22, 2018.Kathryn “Chic” Welch was born on December 28, 1922 in Justiceburg, Texas to parents: Charley and Ethel (Key) Bargsley. She married Gilbert Welch on November 15, 1945 in Round Rock, Texas. She proudly worked as an employment counselor for Texas Employment Commission for 26 years. Chic was the church secretary at First Baptist Church for many years and later, a member of Sandy Lake Baptist Church of Coppell where she served as the clerk. She was a very active volunteer in her community where she delivered meals for Meals On Wheels, provided transportation for the Coppell Senior Center, was a volunteer reader at Wilson Elementary School and often spoke to the Coppell Senior Classes about the importance of education and her personal experience with working so hard in order to get hers.Chic was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert H. Welch and her son, Lon Welch, brothers Harvey Lewis (Bub) Bargsley, Rodney Max Bargsley and sister Ethyl Charleen.Survivors include her son, Gilbert L. Welch, and wife, Sue; sister, Viola “Sis” Roberson; 4 grandchildren, Marcie and her husband, Alan Waligura, Nikki and her husband, Jason Waligura, Cassy Welch and Ryan Welch, and 8 great-grandchildren.The family will receive guests on Saturday, Septemeber 29, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church located at 1615 W Louisiana St, McKinney, TX 75069, a funeral service will follow at First Baptist Church at 10:00 AM.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Senior Adult Ministry of First Baptist Church McKinney located at 1615 W Louisiana St, McKinney, TX 75069, (972)542-0041.
