Kathryn Jean "Kitty" Lane's Obituary
LANE, KATHRYN “KITTY” JEAN GOETZINGER 89, departed this world to rest in the embrace of our Heavenly Father, surrounded by family at Medical City Hospital early Saturday morning, March 31st, 2012. She is preceded to eternal rest by her father, Eugene P. Goetzinger; mother, Kathryn Volz Goetzinger; three sisters, Lou Naylor, Peggy Schwartz, and Carol Claypool; her beloved husband, John Jay Lane II; and grandson, Jeremy Bennett Wing, who found rest seven years earlier to the day. Kitty’s elegant outer beauty was matched by her grace and compassion. In addition to being a tournament bridge player, Kitty loved traveling the world with her late husband and sharing time playing golf, where she made multiple holes-in-one. After a long day on the course, the two would grace the dance floor. Now they’re dancing together in heaven and watching Wheel of Fortune (“the Wheel”). Friends and family remember Kitty for her great kindness, quick-witted humor, sophistication, and competitive spirit (particularly at the bridge table). She was loved by friends at Town Village Retirement Community, Ridgeview (now “Faith United”) Presbyterian Church, and Brookhaven Country Club. In addition to raising four children, Kitty pursued a career with “Horchow Collection” Mail Order Catalog as manager of the Customer Relations Department. Kitty was born February 16th, 1923 in Winfield, Kansas. She grew up in Chicago, Kansas City, and Oklahoma City before her family settled in Dallas in 1939. She married her soulmate, John Jay Lane II, on his birthday, November 10th, 1942. She is survived by her daughters, Diana Kathryn Lane Ward of Crowley, Texas and Susan Cheryl (Susie) Wing of Garland, Texas and her sons, John Jay Lane III of Houston, Texas and Robert Roy (Rob) Lane of Mannford, Oklahoma. Kitty was the beloved grandmother of Adam Jay Rowden, Amy Louise Rowden Karp, Travis Elliott Wing, Jr., Jeremy Bennett Wing (deceased), Dr. Emily Kathryn Wing Hermes, Thomas Jay Lane, Kathryn Loyola Lane, Christopher Kelly Lane, Randall Harris (Randy) Lane, Kenneth Jay (Ken) Lane, and cherished great-grandmother of Amber Michelle Rowden and Samuel Jay Karp. Visitation will be at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Restland Dallas. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Faith United Presbyterian Church at 12717 Marsh Lane, Dallas, Texas with graveside service to follow at Restland.
