Kathryn Jane "Kitty" Linn's Obituary
Kathryn Jane “Kitty” Linn passed away on September 30, 2016 surrounded by family. She was born in Tampa, Florida on February 20, 1918 to Arthur and Nellie Gause. She attended H.B. Plant High School and the Tampa Business College prior to World War II. At the dawn of World War II she met Master Sergeant Rice C. Linn at the MacDill Field Service Club. After Rice’s return from the European Theater of Operations they were married in 1945 in Rice’s hometown of Dallas, Texas. Kathryn and Rice had two sons, Danny and Buddy, and they were very active in their Vickery Place neighborhood and at James B. Bonham Elementary. Kathryn loved being around the school children and was very active in the PTA, Cub Scouts and other organizations. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Dallas. She worked for many years in the office of M. B. Kiser Heating and Air and she loved her coworkers. After retiring she began a long service of volunteering at Baylor Hospital and the Baylor Geriatric Center. She had over 13,000 volunteer service hours and in 2005 was given the Volunteer of the Year Award. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rice C. Linn, parents, Arthur and Nellie Gause, stepmother Louise Gause, and sister, Evelyn Gause Wieand. She is survived by sons, Danny and his wife Mary Jane, and Buddy and his wife Cheri, sister, Betty Gause Frankel, five grandchildren, Dan Linn, Jr., Charles Linn, Amy Linn Spencer, Julie Linn, Blake Linn, ten great-grandchildren and her loving nieces and nephew. The family wishes to thank the staff at Presbyterian Hospital, Presbyterian Hospice Care Unit and all her friends and staff at the Baylor Hospital Geriatric Center. And special thanks to her namesake niece, Kay Wieand White, for her untiring love and care. Family will receive friends on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home from 6PM- 8PM.Funeral services will be held at Restland Memorial Parks Wildwood Chapel on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 12:30PM. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
