Kathryn Irene Bonini Sheeler (August 3, 1933 – June 7, 2024)
Edwin Carson Sheeler, Jr. (March 31, 1925 – May 13, 2018)
On June 7, 2024, Kathryn B. Sheeler called out the name of her husband “Ed,” and quietly passed from this earth to be with her beloved husband, Edwin C. Sheeler, Jr. Ed died May 13, 2018. Each passed away in the care of CC Young Senior Living facility in Dallas, Texas.
Kathy and Ed were married at the VA Hospital Chapel in Houston, Texas on March 30, 1970. Kathy and Ed met while both were employed at the VA Hospital. Ed was himself a veteran, having served in the U. S. Army during World War II and the occupation of Japan at its conclusion. Each of them was a career employee of the VA. Kathy was a dietitian, and Ed was a pharmacist.
Kathy was born August 3, 1933, the oldest child of George W. and Sylvia (Cesa) Bonini of Ridgway, Pennsylvania. Kathy received a B.S. degree from Penn State University and an M.S. degree from Ohio State University. Ed was born March 31,1925 to Edwin C. and Ann (Brittain) Sheeler of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Ed’s father was also a pharmacist.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert. She is survived by a brother, George W. Bonini, Jr. and his wife Gerda of Wolnzach, Germany. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty.
Kathy loved traveling, with or without Ed. The stamps in her 6 passport books attested to the fact that she was a world traveler.
Kathy was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Dallas, Texas.
Her favorite charities were St. Patrick Catholic Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Dallas SPCA’s, Operation Kindness. She would be pleased if a memorial contribution was made to one of those charitable organizations.
Kathy would also be pleased to recognize the staff of CC Young Senior Living and Holy Savior Hospice for their compassionate care during her time of transition.
Following cremation by Restland Funeral Home, Kathy’s ashes will be inurned in a plot next to Ed at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at her church at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2024, followed by an inurnment service at Laurel Land at noon. St. Patrick Catholic Church is located at 9643 Ferndale Road, Dallas, Texas 75238. Laurel Land Memorial Park is located at 6300 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75232.
