Kathryn Carolyn Van Meter's Obituary
VAN METER, KATHRYN CAROLYN “Memaw” 81, was born May 1, 1931 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Carl and Mae Hermann and passed away July 21, 2012 in Richardson, Texas. Shortly after graduating from Highland Park High School, Carolyn married the love of her life, Daniel R. “Poppa” Van Meter, on June 10, 1949. A long-time resident of Richardson, she was actively involved for many years in the P.T.A. (serving on the organization’s city council) and receiving a lifetime membership. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Kathy Morrissey, and granddaughter Shania Dawn. Our beloved Memaw is survived by daughter, Carol Nault; son, Rick (Dondi) Van Meter; son, Russell (Suzanne) Van Meter; grandchildren, Megan Morissey (Brandon McGee), Jeff Van Meter, Kim Van Meter (Matt Houston), and Lauren Elengold (Matt Hoover); several cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, July 24th at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, July 25th at Restland Memorial Chapel with Reverend Dyrle Phillips officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Sunnyvale First Baptist Church, 3018 Beltline Road, Sunnyvale, TX 75182 or the SPCA of Texas, 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, TX 75212.
