Katina Michaels Xeros' Obituary
Xeros, Katina Michaels, age 86 of Richardson, Texas fell asleep on December15, 2013. Katina was born on August 11, 1927 to Charles and Euterpy Michaels of Charlotte, North Carolina. She graduated Suma Cum Laud from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. Katina married Chris Xeros on December 16, 1956. She received her Master’s Degree in Education from East Texas State University, Commerce, and taught at the DISD Health Magnet School. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa as well as being recognized as a nominee for National Teacher of the Year Award in 1982. Katina was an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church serving as a catechism instructor, President of the Philoptochos Society and was appointed to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese National Council. Katina is survived by her husband, Chris Xeros of Richardson, Texas; daughter, Eleni Xeros-Huff of Denton, Texas and daughter-in law, Martha Xeros of Rockwall, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Elias Huff, Alysia Huff, both of Denton, and Adam Xeros of Rockwall. She had one great grandchild, Nolan Huff of Denton. She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Basil Michaels of Charlotte, North Carolina and son, Charles Xeros. Trisagion (Thrice Holy Ceremony) will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Holy Orthodox Church, located at Hillcrest and Alpha Roads. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church with a burial service at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas. Donations may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, or Alzheimer’s Association.
