Born on February 21st, 1935, Katy spent her childhood in the small town of Avery, Texas. She was a member of the Avery High School women’s basketball team and the Avery Bulldog cheerleaders. She also performed on the radio as part of a country music singing group. Following graduation, Katy married her high school sweetheart, Boyd Audas, and moved to Dallas, where she pursued a career in hairstyling and started a family.
Katy is remembered by those closest to her as being an excellent cook. She made the best pie crust in the state of Texas and a mean mac and cheese. You could always count on a fully stocked jar of chocolate chip cookies on hand when you visited. Katy was an incredibly generous and humble person, except if you had the misfortune of beating her at a game of bingo or cards. She had a shockingly fierce competitive side. An avid garage-sale enthusiast, Katy was always hunting for that bargain find and was always so excited to show you what she found. She also loved dancing and could really cut a rug. Most of all Katy is remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, always doting on her family. She will be greatly missed by many.
Services will be held at Restland’s Wild Wood Chapel on Saturday, September 23rd at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association https://act.alz.org in her honor.
