Kay Carol Crouch's Obituary
Kay Carol Crouch died on July 3, 2017, of complications related to brain cancer at the age of 69. She was born on December 21, 1947, in Gladewater, Texas as the only child to Owen and Myrtle Craig, who preceded her in death. Known as “Cookie” to family and childhood friends, and later to her grandchildren, Kay graduated from Gladewater High School in 1966 and earned her Business Education degree from Harding College in 1970. After completing college, she moved to Dallas to work as an instructor at Xerox where she met Bob K. Crouch, Jr. Married on February 12, 1972, Bob and Kay enjoyed entertaining during the early years. Traveling was also a favorite activity throughout their marriage including many locations around the U.S. and Europe and several trips to Hawaii, Kay’s favorite place on Earth. In 1977, Bob and Kay welcomed their first daughter, Amy Kay. A few years later, they became a family of four with their second daughter, Jennie Denise. As a family, they continued to enjoy traveling and enjoyed several family vacations including an RV trip around Texas, a Disney cruise, and of course, a trip to Hawaii. Both girls were raised in a home in North Dallas that Bob custom built. Later the family moved to Plano where the girls completed their primary and secondary education. Throughout this time, the family consistently attended church and were active members. Both Amy and Jennie attended Christian universities, married men who love Jesus and continue to serve the Lord in their communities. Kay always had a deep love for the Lord and spent much of her adult life attending or teaching Bible studies or mentoring others in the faith. When she was diagnosed with brain cancer in 1990, her love for Jesus was further increased as God healed her and granted her another 27 years with her family. Even upon learning of her diagnosis last year, she did not fear death as she knew the joy that would come in being with her Savior and King. Kay is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bob Kendrick Crouch, Jr, her two daughters Amy Wiebe and Jennie Brady, her sons-in-law James Wiebe and David Brady and seven grandchildren George, Ellie, James, Emma, John, Nathan and Joseph. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 5, 2017, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 6, 2017, at 11:00 AM in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
