Keith Howard Mackie's Obituary
Keith Howard Mackie, 74, entered into eternal life on April 25, 2021. He was born in Bridgton, Maine to Paul Elias Mackie and Edna Clara (Sargent) Mackie on April 1, 1947. He moved 39 times and lived in 16 different states throughout his childhood.
He attended high school at Kentucky Military Institute and graduated from high school in Tulsa, Ok. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1968.
Keith married the love of his life, Evelynn Sue Morrow, on February 23, 1968 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Guthrie, OK. He was an Insurance Underwriter and worked for several companies, including The Hartford and Bituminous. Throughout his career, he moved to various states, including Texas, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. He led a life of service to his country and community. He served in the Army National Guard for 20 years and served in the Church in multiple roles, the last being Assistant Treasurer at Trinity Episcopal Church in Hartford, Connecticut. His hobbies included computers and electronic devices, along with collecting fountain pens and books. In April 2017, he was diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Dementia (Primary Progressive Aphasia, Logopenic variant). Throughout the progression of the disease, his faith remained steadfast. God’s word in scripture, psalms, and liturgy comforted and strengthened him. He will be affectionately remembered for his love of cruises, Hawaiian shirts, and margaritas.
Keith is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Keith is survived by his spouse of 53 years, Evelynn Sue Mackie of Dallas, TX; daughter, Theresa Holly Mackie of Austin, TX; daughter, Melissa Hope Guy of McKinney, TX; son, Daniel Keith Mackie and his wife Alison of Tucson, AZ; and daughter, Elizabeth Faith Mackie of Dallas, TX; Grandchildren; Destiny Christine Guy and Andrew Ray Guy, both of McKinney, TX; Brother, Paul Elias Mackie, Jr and his wife Janet Hawthorne of Woodstock, GA; Brother-in-Law, Phillip Morrow and his wife Jennifer of Guthrie, OK; four nephews, Paul Elias Mackie III “Trey” and his wife Missy of Bluffton, South Carolina; William David Mackie of Woodstock, GA., Michael Morrow of Mulhall, OK, Matthew McCombie and his wife Kira of Andover, KS; niece, April Marvin and her husband Jorg of Netherlands; cousin, Shirley Bean of Conway, NH and his beloved cat, Claire.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm on Friday April 30, 2021 in the Magnolia Place building (Arbor Room) at Highland Springs, 8000 Frankford Rd Dallas, TX 75252. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable contributions in memory of Keith Mackie be made to:
