Kendall Callaway's Obituary
Kendall Wayne Callaway
Dec 4, 1944 - May 26, 2023
Kendall Wayne Callaway, 78, beloved father, brother, uncle, grandparent, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Friday, May 26, 2023.
Ken was born December 4, 1944 to James and Iva Callaway. He grew up on a farm in South Texas but his family eventually moved to Garland Texas which became his permanent home and the place he would start and raise his own family.
Ken was one of the hardest working men you would ever have the pleasure of meeting. He developed a love of cars and started learning all about them at a very young age. By the time he was in his early 20’s he was a business owner with his own full service gas station where he quickly became a highly sought after mechanic. His reputation for being talented and honest lead to a high demand for his services. Life would take him down several career paths in his life but he never lost his love of cars.
Ken was also a very dedicated family man. His drive to work hard was due in large part by his desire to provide for his family. He made sure his family never needed anything and wanted for very little. Not only did he provide for them financially., but he was also a father who was present in his kids’ lives. He was there for every special moment and never missed an event or a birthday or any other special occasion.
Ken was loved greatly by his family and by those who knew him well. Our lives will certainly never be the same without him and he will be missed every day.
Ken is survived by his daughter, Debra Callaway; son, Kendall Wayne Callaway, Jr and wife Gia; grandson, Zach Ethetton and wife, Jennifer; grandson Luke Ethetton and wife, Ciera; seven great-grandchildren; Aunts and Uncles including Betty and Roy Callaway and many cousins; nephews Jim Callaway, Billy Callaway and Randy Huffman; brother in law Philip Norris and wife Carol, nephew Andrew Norris, niece Carli Erickson and husband Josh, great-nephews Brody and Cade Erickson, great-niece Josie Erickson. He leaves behind many good friends as well. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Darlie Callaway, parents, brother Jim, sister Janice, niece Crystal and also by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, who he dearly loved.
A service celebrating Ken’s life will be held Thursday, June 15 at 10:00 am at The Wildwood Chapel located within Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
