KENNETH RAY CLEVELAND's Obituary
Born the son of Ray O. Cleveland and Frances Bates Cleveland June 22, 1953, in Richmond, VA, Kenneth Ray Cleveland got to Texas as soon as he could. The family moved often immediately after WWII following Ray’s civil engineering career coming to Dallas in 1955.Kenny, born with burnt orange blood, enjoyed growing up a Longhorn. During his school days he was active in sports, a trumpeter in the marching band, and a comedian in class. At First Baptist Dallas Kenny grew in stature and in favor with God and man. He was active in RAs, Chapel Choir and the orchestra. Kenny graduated from Lake Highlands High School, Class of 1971. His grandfather, Dr. C.M. Cleveland, professor of mathematics, inspired him to play football for Darrell K. Royal as the kicker for The University of Texas where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.Kenny was known by friends and family for his positivity, kindness, compassion for others and most especially his great sense of humor. His love of the Lord was reflected in his actions through his care and generosity towards everyone he met. He was deeply passionate about sharing the gospel with his men’s Bible study group at Agoura Bible Fellowship, Agoura, CA. Having enjoyed family camping trips growing up, he likewise enjoyed desert dirt bike riding, pond fishing, horse riding and being the #1 cheerleader for his children’s endeavors. Kenny offered his children his unconditional love, encouragement, and energetic support.Kenneth is survived by his children, Danica Cleveland Jones and Colton Ray Cleveland, both of Tulsa, OK; his devoted sister and best friend, Dr. Lynda Gail Cleveland of Dallas and Austin; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.Ken was welcomed into heaven by his parents and his grandparents on July 15, 2018.Service for Kenny is scheduled for Tuesday, July 31, 2018, in Wildwood Chapel, Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas. at 10:00 AM.In memory of Kenny, gifts may be given to First Baptist Dallas Truett Library or The Media Department.
