Kenneth Ervin Hunter of Sachse, Texas, was called to be with his Lord and Savior on November 22, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He is survived by wife Helen Hunter of Sachse, Texas; daughter Sheryl Baxter of Sachse, Texas; granddaughter Kristin Schaefer of Wylie, Texas; grandsons Marcus Baxter of Bryan, Texas and Dustin Baxter of Rowlett, Texas, and great-grandsons Lucas and Micah Baxter of Bryan, Texas. Born on August 11, 1940, In Wills Point, Texas, Ken was the son of Charlie and Avis Hunter.
Ken and Helen were married on December 26, 1959, while he was on leave from the Army. He served at Fort Bliss from October 1959 to August 1961. They lived In Garland, Texas, for many years then moved to Greenville, Texas, In 1993. During their time in Greenville, they enjoyed going to the casino on occasion, fishing in their pond, and taking care of any stray animal that wandered onto their property.
An avid Texas Longhorns fan, he accepted the Aggies in the family but never minded telling an Aggies joke now and then. He shared his wisdom and passion for the Masonic Lodge, dirt track racing, hunting, fishing, model airplanes, coin collecting, and knives and guns with family and friends, and could always be counted on for a good story...no matter what the subject was.
He was blessed with many skills, which enabled him to excel in various avenues of employment. He was a postal carrier, mechanic, truck driver and salesman. His greatest qualities were the pride he took in having perfect hair and his taste in clothing. Burnt orange jumpsuits and Hawaiian print shirts were his favorite attire. He loved music and could hold his own on a steel guitar. We'll always remember how much he loved Christmas and went all-out decorating their house, inside and out.
Ken left a forever mark on the lives of those he touched by teaching love, compassion, kindness, responsibility, honor, determination, and how to keep a sense of humor.
He ran the good race.
