Kenneth "Ken" Richard Wright's Obituary
Kenneth Richard Wright, affectionately known as “Ken,” passed away peacefully at home on November 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and his cherished dog, Dasher. Born on June 29, 1959, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Arthur Kenneth Wright and Gail Anne Wright, Ken lived a life defined by love, strength, independence, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Ken was a devoted husband to his wife, Kelly, of 34 years. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising three children: Emily, Natalie, and David Wright. Ken’s love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and he cherished the moments spent with his wife and children. Throughout the years, the family also included two dogs, Abbey and Dasher, whom Ken was quite fond of.
Personally, Ken had a deep passion for a wide array of hobbies and sports, embracing each with enthusiasm and skill. Coaching soccer was one of Ken’s greatest joys; he spent countless hours on the field, sharing his love for the game with his children, whom he proudly coached for several years. Weekend mornings found him tuned into the Premier League, cheering with unwavering passion and a cup of coffee. At home, Ken found joy in playing card games with his family, wrestling with his dogs, firing up the BBQ pit he and his son built together in the backyard, and crafting meals for family dinners that he made a priority. In his younger years, Ken participated in any and all sports. Specifically, Ken spoke of enjoying his time playing baseball, football, soccer, and volleyball. Ken was also a skilled motocross rider and participated in numerous races. He rekindled this passion in recent years proudly restoring and riding his dad’s motorcycle, alongside his love for sports cars and racing events. His hands were never idle – a skilled woodworker, mechanic, and the go-to handyman. Ken could build, fix, or improve anything.
Professionally, Ken worked for several years as a Material Program Manager in the aerospace and defense industry, where he was known for his commitment, efficiency, and expertise. He was always overheard on the phone bragging about his children’s accomplishments over the years. Ken made many friends across the country throughout his tenure that he enjoyed speaking with, many of whom visited him in his final weeks.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Kelly, his children Emily, Natalie, and David, and his dog, Dasher. He is also survived by his two brothers, Daniel and Thomas Wright and his aunt, Doris Bernas. He is also remembered fondly by numerous other family members who loved him dearly. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gail, his sister, Beth Ann Wright, and his grandparents.
Reflecting on his life, Ken would often say he was looking forward to his retirement with a smile, knowing he would finally have the time to enjoy all the things he loved most with those he cherished. Ken often dreamed of retirement as a chance to finally slow down, find a quiet spot by the water, spend his days fishing and gardening, and savoring the peace he'd worked so hard to enjoy.
His memory will live on in every whistle of a soccer game, every roaring engine, and every shared family dinner. Ken will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
