Kenneth Ray Makowski's Obituary
Major (Retired) Kenneth R. Makowski, 82, of Garland, TX passed away at the Methodist Hospital in Richardson, TX on Monday, October 18, 2021.
Kenneth was born August 5, 1939, in Waco, TX to the late Milton and Cora Makowski of Bellmead, TX. He attended La Vega High School and graduated in 1957. During his senior year as a pitcher, he led the Pirate baseball team to the State playoffs. He continued his education with a baseball scholarship at Sam Houston State College in Huntsville, TX, and spent 4 years in the ROTC program.
After graduation, he attended and completed the U.S. Army’s Officer Candidate School. During his 22 years of service, he attained the following military occupational specialties, Infantry, Maintenance Management and Supply Services. He spent 10 years of foreign service including Viet Nam (Bronze Star & Combat Infantryman Badge), Germany and Saudi Arabia. While in Germany, he met and married Renate Fehn of Wurzburg and later married in 1965.
Following military retirement, he spent 15 years in real estate in the DFW area.
He is survived by his loving family: wife, Renate; daughters, Debra and Sandra; son-in-law, Harold; grandchildren, Jessica, Kristin, Aria: brother and spouse, Charles and Deborah; niece, Ann; nephew, Clay.
Services will be on Wednesday 11/3 in our Restland Memorial Chapel. Visitation will begin at 9AM-11AM.
