Kenneth Wayne New's Obituary
Kenneth Wayne New, known simply as “Wayne New,” age 73, of Garland, Tx, passed away in his sleep on March 27, 2023. He was born in Bastrop, LA to Edward Charles and Sue Dopson New on February 24, 1950. Wayne was a contradiction on so many levels and was many things to many people but regardless of one’s personal experience with him, all would agree he was most known for his large and loud personality and his ability to make people laugh. He had a crazy sense of humor and loved telling jokes and doing impressions. He was always the life of the party wherever he went and was extremely generous. It was impossible to be unaware of his presence. He was a very animated storyteller and often left his listeners shaking their head and wondering if those stories were true or not. Strangely enough, the ones that didn’t seem true often were and the ones that seemed true often were not! He will be remembered one way or another by all who knew him.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Edward Charles New, his mother, Sue Dopson New, and his three brothers: Donald Evan New of Texarkana, Tx; Robert Charles New of Moore, Oklahoma, and Daniel Allen New of Garland, Tx.
He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Gale Michie and her husband Jeff Michie of Nashville, Arkansas, his son Robert Wayne New and his wife Meagan New of Royce City, Tx, and his son Edward Shayne New and his wife April New of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Wayne will be laid to rest with his parents and his brother, Daniel, at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. There will be no formal services held for Wayne, however, there will be a visitation open to all. The visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home, located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243
