The Rose Beyond the Wall
A rose once grew where all could see,
sheltered beside a garden wall,
And, as the days passed swiftly by,
it spread its branches, straight and tall…
One day, a beam of light shone through
a crevice that had opened wide ―
The rose bent gently toward its warmth
then passed beyond to the other side…
Now, you who deeply feel its loss,
be comforted ― the rose blooms there ―
Its beauty even greater now,
nurtured by God’s own loving care.
I will forever carry you in my heart.

The world lost a great man last week. A man that loved God and life and nature and one whom had accomplished everything that most men only dream of. He was a humble and kind man. I will never forget the first time I met Kenny he was planting Xerascape plants in our neighborhood. I drove up to him and met him and asked him if he would help me to do the same to my yard. We talked a while and he said yes. When we drove away my wife said well I know you two will get along because he dresses just like you. You would never tell how successful Kenny was because he dressed very casual, like me, and he was the most humble guy I have known. He was quiet but always planning.
Kenny was a great friend to me. He lived life fully as a fearful worshiper of God and a lover of his family and all that God has given us, the land, plants and surroundings. He always had something great and thankful to say about his loving wife or the kids. He was a family man, a Theologian, an accomplished business man, a scratch golfer, a collector of space and land, a great hunter and someone whom loved to teach you about the Bible and how to plant the "right way". He loved planting where we used little water and really enjoyed learning about new plants that might be great to conserve water, or deer or freeze resistant. Where he loved golf he loved even better the walk in the woods among God's creation.
Kenny joined me in business but was much more of a friend than just a business partner. We spoke at every day, almost twice or more most days. He had a great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh. I gained so much knowledge about the Bible, business and what and how to plant from Kenny. I will greatly miss my dear friend, miss his knowledge, his friendship, his wisdom and his laugh!
I will think of you every day Kenny and miss you every day but I know I will see you beyond the pearly gates!
I and my family will continually to pray for your family as life moves on.
Love and God Bless you, Daryl
