Kenneth Neal Taylor's Obituary
Kenneth Neal Taylor, 76, of Richardson, TX passed away peacefully Monday evening, January 20, 2020. Ken was born in Rusk County, Texas on October 23, 1943 to Neal and Ruby Taylor, the youngest of four children.
Ken married Caren Williams in 1971. They shared 49 years together and raised three daughters: Teri (Larson) Taylor, Kristi Taylor, and Erin (Nelson) Taylor. Ken had six grandchildren, who brought him much joy: Jack, Jason, Conner, Luke, Samantha, and Lauren.
A retired Lake Highland’s High School physics teacher, Ken was adored by his students and respected by faculty. Prior to teaching, he was a physicist at the University of Texas at Dallas. He worked on the QuarkNet research program at the European Organization for Nuclear Research in Switzerland and conducted particle physics research at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory near Chicago. Southern Methodist University’s physics Department selected Ken to carry out an original research project in astrophysics, during which two of his students discovered new stars. Ken also had several articles published in scientific magazines.
Ken had a passion not only for teaching but also for learning. A life-long learner, he immersed himself in books and research, filling his mind with science, philosophy, religion, and history. He also enjoyed hunting, nature, music, and sports.
A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was always happy to serve when needed. Ken was a kind and patient, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Neal Noro Taylor and Ruby Pearl Russell; sister: Ramona Jean (Franklin) Taylor; and brother: Michael Barry Taylor.
Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 900 S. Bowser Rd in Richardson on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 10:00 AM. A viewing and family visitation will be held on Monday, January 27, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue in Dallas, Texas 75243.
Ken is survived by his wife: wife: Caren (Williams) Taylor; daughters: Teri (Larson) Taylor, her husband Eric Larson, their children Luke Larson, Lauren Larson; Kristi Taylor; Erin (Nelson) Taylor, her husband Jonathan Nelson, their children Jack Nelson, Jason Nelson, Conner Nelson, Samantha Nelson; brother : Gary Taylor; and several nephews (3) and nieces (7).
