Kenneth Allan Young Sr.'s Obituary
YOUNG, KENNETH ALLAN Born September 23, 1920 in Oakland, California and passed away September 15, 2011 in Dallas, Texas. Ken was a retired United States Air Force Colonel. He grew up in Hollywood, California and lived in that area until he entered the Army Air Corps in 1941. As a career Air Force Pilot, Ken served in the World War II, Korea, and Vietnam conflicts. Over the course of his career he was stationed at numerous Air Force Bases in both the United States and Overseas flying such aircraft as C-47s, F-86s, B-47s, and F-100s. After retiring from the Air Force in September 1971, he began a second career with AM General/LTV located in South Bend, Indiana, until his second retirement in 1986. While living in South Bend, Ken and his wife,Phyllis, became great Notre Dame Football fans, played golf and tennis, and enjoyed being with their many friends. Ken and Phyllis moved to Houston, Texas, in 1988 in order to be closer to their two adult children. Ken and his daughter, Karen, moved to Dallas in 2006. Ken was a loving father, and an outstanding painter who specialized in pastel and oil portraits. He also had a great sense of humor and a love for Corvettes, golf, tennis, and Corvettes. Ken was preceded in death by the love of his life, Phyllis Breig Young, in September 2002. He is survived by his children, Kenneth A Young, Jr., and his wife, Rebecca, of Whitewright, Texas, and his daughter, Karen A Young, PhD, of Dallas, Texas. Ken will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
