Kennith Ray Owens was born in Waxahachie, Texas on May 7, 1933. He passed away on March 19, 2024. He graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1950. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University, and a Master’s degree in Mat Read Obituary
Ken Owens was my math teacher and assistant coach in basketball at St. Mark's. He was always interested in me and supportive of all students, Coach Blakely and St. Mark's. Blessings and comfort to his family and gratitude for being under this fine, Christian man. Alvin Lane, 1960.
Ken was my friend, colleague, mentor, and fellow believer. He left his “fingerprints” all over me. I’m forever grateful and will look forward to seeing him again at the Throne.
Professor Owens headed up the Math Department while I was a student. I received a wonderful Math education at St. Mark’s. Professor Owens was a kind and gentle person. His legacy lives in the many students he inspired in his years as a teacher, coach, and role model.

Mr. Owens was one of the best teachers I ever had. He was from Waxahachie, but still helped me, an Ennisite, adjust to the rigors of St. Mark’s. God speed, Mr. Owens. You were an excellent, kind, and erudite human being.
Mr. Owens was one of my favorite and best teachers at St. Mark’s. Even though it was many years ago, I still remember two life lessons he taught us: 1. “Think” and 2. “Do those things you should do and do them well.” Now I’m raising my kids and instilling these same two lessons in them. Mr. Owen’s impact and legacy are literally touching the lives of people he never knew and will continue to do so for generations. I pray for his family and that they have comfort knowing Mr. Owens is at peace with Jesus in Heaven. God bless Mr. Owens. He will be missed.

Ken Owens was my sophomore year algebra guru, a great teacher, and a same-year JV basketball and baseball coach for an unruly class that included Steve Miller, (recently deceased) Mickey Shampain and hard-to-govern others on a tournament road trip to Houston and back. We survived thanks to Ken, a well-loved memory.
