Kent John Hornbostel's Obituary
Kent John Hornbostel, 58, was born in August of 1959, to parents Daniel Hornbostel and Sharlene Palmer Hornbostel in Omaha, Nebraska. He passed away on February 9, 2018, in Houston, Texas.Professor Hornbostel served for many years on the faculty at SMU. His research in theoretical physics and excellence in teaching will be sorely missed. Professor Hornbostel also served until recently as director of the SMU physics graduate program.Kent will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who have known and loved him. Among them, his daughter Emma has been a particular source of pride and great joy.Memorial service will be at 10:00 am on Friday, March 9, 2018, at SMU Perkins Chapel. All are welcome.In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations in memory of Professor Hornbostel be made out to the “Physics Gift Fund” and be mailed to Dedman College, Development Office, P.O. Box 750235, Dallas, TX 75275-0235.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243.
