Kermit 'Lil Man' Ellis Hendricks' Obituary
Kermit Ellis Hendricks, affectionately known as 'Lil Man', was a source of joy and laughter to everyone who knew him. Born on April 21, 1942, to Odessa Caldwell and Emmitt Crawford Hendricks in the close-knit community of Pflugerville, Texas, he embarked on a life journey marked by love, faith, and an unwavering commitment to his family and friends. On March 19, 2025, at the age of 82, Lil Man completed his earthly innings, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and generosity that will continue to inspire generations to come.
An alumnus of LC Anderson High School in Austin, Texas, Lil Man's education laid the groundwork for a career defined by diligence and a strong work ethic. His professional journey spanned four decades, during which he made significant contributions to Dearborn Trucking, Marmon Motors, BFI, and ultimately, SST, where he retired after 40 years of dedicated service. His involvement in the workplace left a lasting impact, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers.
Lil Man's zest for life was evident in his wide-ranging interests. Whether cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, enjoying the thrill of a baseball game, or casting a line into still waters on a fishing trip, he embraced each moment with unmatched enthusiasm. A true sports fan, Lil Man also found solace and entertainment in Western TV shows and true crime series. Above all, he treasured the time spent with family and friends, sharing stories and laughter and creating memories that would endure through time.
Kermit Ellis Hendricks, our beloved Lil Man, his life was characterized by enduring love and partnership as he shared 52 beautiful years with his beloved wife, Jereline Hendricks. Together, they raised a family of strong, compassionate children, including sons; Kermit Ellis Hendricks Jr. (Angie), Warren Keith Hendricks, Andrew Johnson, Timothy Wayne Johnson (Karen), and daughters Elicia Sears and Rochell Cooper. His sisters Bonnie Myers (Jerry) and Theresa Bell, Uncles; Clarence Hendricks and Charles Caldwell, and Aunt; Dorothy Ates, enriched his life further. Kermit's life was also filled with a host of grandchildren, great-grands, cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving relatives, along with loyal friends who became an extension of his family.
A visitation will be held on March 27, 2025, at Restland Funeral Home from 5PM to 7PM. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 11:30 AM, at St. Luke AME Church, located at 521 W Ave E, Garland, TX 75040.
