Kevin Gray's Obituary
Kevin Leonard Gray was born on July 25, 1957 in Hampton Virginia to Velma ford Valentine and Oscar Valentine. His stepfather Milford Gray preceded him in death. Kevin was the loving husband to Charlene Gray with whom he spent 30 wonderful years of a beautiful marriage. To that loving union was born their daughter Nicolette Kathryn. Kevin was the stepfather to their son Mario Guy Waytes. Kevin being born into a military family spent years living in Germany and England. When that time was finished he was able to return to Hampton Virginia. Kevin received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Norfolk state University in Norfolk VA.In 1985 Kevin came to Dallas to work as a sports copy editor for the Dallas Morning news paper. He served there for over 30 years. He loved his job and all the coworkers who helped report write and edit the stories. His favorite teams were the New York Giants, The New York Mets and The New York Nicks. Kevin passed away April 3, 2018. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Charlene Gray, Nicolette Kathryn Gray-Daugherty, son Mario Guy Waytes. Mother Velma Gray, sisters Diane (David) Battle, Theresa Washington. His nieces Christina, Jasmine, Erika, Traci and Leslie, Kadra and Arika and his beloved nephew Kyle Battle. He also leaves sister in laws Kathleen (Drew) Alexander and Jeanne (Terrance) Fuqua. His grandchildren, great nieces and nephew also his beloved cousins Brian, Belinda, John and Beverly. Leaving in loving memory his friends Jean, Mike and Sarah Johnson along with all his friends and coworkers.“We thought of you with today, But that is nothing new, we thought about you yesterday and days before that too, We think of you in silence, we often speak your name; all we have now are your memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we will never part. God has you in His keeping, we have you in our heart.
