Kimberly May Fundling Phares' Obituary
Kimberly May Fundling Phares, age 61, died August 29, 2019, at her home in Mesquite, Texas. Kim was born on June 11, 1958, at Carswell Air Force Base in Tarrant County, Texas to Emil Robert Fundling and Patricia McKee Fundling. Kim was a loving mother and wife. She has two children, Joshua Daniel Snyder and Emily Elizabeth Snyder. She was married to Mike Phares in 2001. In addition to her father, children and husband, she is survived by two brothers, Robert Dale Fundling and Benton Scott Fundling, a niece, Kristin Fundling, two stepdaughters, Rebecca Howard and Rachel Phares, and four grandchildren. Kim was predeceased by her Mother in 2012.Kim worked for Houston Stafford Electric/IES Residential for over 30 years, achieving the title of Office Manager. She loved to sing and was a member of the South Garland High School choir until she graduated in 1976. Kim was also a member of the Southern Belles during her years at South Garland High. She was a long time member of the choir and bell choir at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Mesquite and taught Sunday school classes as well. Kim loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Hot Springs, Santa Fe, Washington, DC and San Antonio. Her house was always the gathering place for family events and holiday get togethers and she was a wonderful and gracious host.A memorial service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 411 N. Town East Blvd. Mesquite, TX 75150 at 2:00 p.m. on September 14, 2019. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) in Kim’s honor.
