Kimberly Owens McCauley's Obituary
We are saddened to share that Kimberly Owens McCauley, 67, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025, unexpectedly. This brings surprising and overwhelming grief to her family, friends, and community.
Kimberly was born in Dallas, TX, on May 1, 1958, to Jerry Paul Owens and Jeanne Garrett Owens, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Stewart Owens, and her beloved twin brother, Kevin Owens.
Kimberly was raised in a close-knit family and was proud to be the granddaughter of the Owens Country Sausage family. She graduated from Richardson High School in 1977, creating lasting relationships in Richardson where so many of her classmates still gather regularly. She also held fond memories of her time spent at Southern Methodist University, where she formed lifelong friendships that she deeply cherished and continues to nurture.
A competitive figure skater in her youth, Kimberly maintained a lifelong passion for skating and the Olympic Games. She admired the discipline, beauty, and grace of the sport and never lost her appreciation for the artistry of movement on ice. She also loved being on the water and was an accomplished water skier, known for her confidence and skill, especially on a slalom ski.
Creativity was a defining part of Kimberly’s life. She was an avid needlepoint artist and a passionate cook, talents she lovingly inherited from her mother. She found joy in creating—whether through a handmade project, a thoughtfully prepared meal, or a beautifully set table. Kimberly was a gracious and generous hostess who loved opening her home and welcoming family and friends, particularly during lively lake gatherings filled with good food, laughter, and togetherness. She took great pride in making every event feel special and memorable for her guests.
Kimberly is survived by her daughters, Maggie Gordon and husband Kyle, and Emily Bower and husband Marcus, and by her four grandchildren, Parker and Grace Gordon, and Brylan and Laynie Bower, whom she loved dearly and took immense joy in. She also leaves behind extended family, including her sister-in-law, Cindy Owens, and nephew, Kyle Owens. Kim’s many friends will continue to honor her and share in her warmth, creativity, and love of tradition.
A service to celebrate Kimberly’s life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2025, at 2:00pm at Restland Memorial Chapel with a burial to follow. Beginning at 1:00pm, guests may gather and visit the family to pay respects to Kimberly.
Kimberly will be remembered for her creativity, her love of family, her joy on the ice and on the water, and the care she took in making others feel welcome and at home. We know she is at peace above and reunited with her loving family.
