Knoxie Lee Plasek's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Knoxie Lee Phillips-Plasek, who left us on December 29th, 2024, at the age of 84. Knoxie was a beacon of kindness and compassion, known for her unwavering dedication to serving others.
Born on June 19th, 1940 to K.D. and Inez Phillips in Arkansas, Knoxie was one of eight children. Devout Baptists, her parents raised Knoxie and her siblings predominantly in Caddo, Louisiana - where most of her fond childhood memories took place. Learning the value of supporting each other from a young age, her life was a testament to the close-knit bonds created in childhood.
At an early age, she was driven by a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of those around her. In her adult life, whether it was through volunteering at local shelters, community events, or simply offering a listening ear, Knoxie touched countless lives with her servant heart.
Her empathetic and mothering nature shone brightly in her role as a Sunday School teacher at her local church, where she guided and nurtured the spirits of young minds.
Knoxie tirelessly volunteered, and was later employed, at Hope's Door New Beginning Center, offering comfort and support to those affected by domestic abuse.
Knoxie's kind gestures and unwavering dedication to serving God left an inedible mark on the hearts of her family, friends, and community. Her passion for cooking brought warmth and joy to many gatherings, embodying her nurturing spirit.
Knoxie lived a life marked by selflessness and generosity. As we grieve her loss, we find comfort in the gentle memories she leaves behind and the profound impact of her compassionate life.
Knoxie is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Antone R. Plasek Jr; daughter, Kendra Lee Plasek-Morse; son, Karl Derrick Plasek; grandson, Anthony Plasek; sisters, Mary Grice and Nanette Bryant; and brother, David "Sonny" Phillips.
She is survived by her son, Antone "Tony" Raymond Plasek III and his wife, Adela Riojas Soto-Plasek; her son, Travis Winnford Plasek and his wife Genevive Plasek; her brothers, Ronnie Phillips and his wife Karen of Magnolia Arkansas, Gary Phillips and his wife Betty of Waskom Texas, Larry Phillips and his wife Martha of Shreveport Louisianna, and Jim Phillips of Haughton Louisianna; her grandchildren, Ronald Morse, Jeremy Gilbert, Stephanie Morse, Angela Plasek-McCray and husband Stephen McCray, Kevin Plasek, Ava Plasek, and Karlee Plasek; her great-grandchildren, Holden Smallwood, Adrian McCray, and Liam McCray; as well as many extended family and friends.
An open visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16th from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home's Daisy State Room.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 17th, starting at 2 p.m. in Restland Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel.
