Kurt Richard Tessem's Obituary
Kurt Richard Tessem, 65, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Kurt was born
January 15, 1959 in New Orleans, Louisiana. By a young age he had moved to the Dallas area and
resided in Richardson for the remainder of his life.
Kurt attended Berkner HS, where he’d find his high school sweetheart, Sharon Grounds (Tessem),
whom he’d go on to marry. Kurt attended SFA for a few semesters, but switched gears and started a
career. He owned and operated two tractor trailer trucks before changing career paths into carpentry.
This is where his skill set shined; as he was able to build, remodel or design just about anything out of
lumber. Many of his friends and family own custom pieces that he made; or have homes crafted by his
construction.
Kurt had many hobbies and enjoyed watching sports, especially the Texas Rangers. Kurt would always
find a way to play golf, work in the garden or get tickets to a game, even if it meant he had to take a half
day Friday. If weather drove him inside, he would take to cooking. He was known for his venison jerky,
scratch gumbo and his World-Famous Stuffed Peppers. Kurt thrived on keeping busy and being
outdoors.
Kurt is preceded in death by his father Earl Tessem and His mother MaJill Tessem.
Kurt is survived by his wife Sharon Grounds Tessem; his children, Ashley Tessem, Chad (Kathryne)
Tessem; four grandchildren Bailey and Avery Browne, Hailey and Hunter Tessem; his brothers Steve
(JoAnn) and Ted; his sister Ann (Will); as well as many in-laws and nieces and nephews.
He will be sincerely missed by his loving family, devoted friends, and all the wonderful individuals who
knew and loved him.
