Kwok Yin Lo's Obituary
Kwok Yin Gary Lo, 68, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Early in life, he showed his bravery and sense of adventure by leaving his native Hong Kong to attend university in England. There, he met and married his college sweetheart, Foong, with whom he had two sons. Opportunity presented itself to move to the United States and he and his young family relocated to Dallas.
Gary was accomplished professionally, with several patents to his name. His real passion, however, was volunteerism and service of others. Over the years, he was active with various civic organizations and even founded a group allowing high school students to plan and execute service projects. For many, his sons included, the lessons learned from this first taste of leadership and organization carried with them into adulthood. Gary also devoted his time to volunteering at his beloved temple, Fo Guang Shan in Dallas. For many years, he and his wife Foong could be found in the kitchen every weekend helping to prepare meals or placing fruit displays for the altars.
Gary will be dearly missed for his big laugh and even bigger heart. He had a sharp wit and ability to find humor in the mundane. Gary treated everyone he met with respect and as equals.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Foong, and his two sons, Bernard and Patrick.
A brief memorial service will be held in his honor on Friday April 21, 2023 at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas.
