L. R. McKinney's Obituary
L. R. McKinney was born July 1, 1931 in Dallas, Texas and passed away March 30, 2015 in Dallas, Texas after a courageous struggle with diabetes for many years. He was drafted in the early 1950’s and served in the U. S. Army. Davis was an employee for the City of Dallas in the Information Services Dept. for 28 years prior to his retirement in 1996. Davis is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Jane Walker McKinney. He was preceded in death by his parents, L. R. Davis McKinney, Sr. and Aline Lee McKinney. He is survived by brother, Walter Edward McKinney and wife Tracey; sister, Dana Hyde; sister-in-law, Barbara Jean Walker Metzger; and sister-in-law, Anita Ruth Walker Marshall; several nieces, nephews, and friends. Davis’ passion during his entire lifetime was the study of numismatics. He was a member of the American Numismatic Society, the American Numismatic Association, and the Texas Numismatic Association. The visitation for L. R. McKinney will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. The service for L. R. McKinney will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 3:00 PM in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
