Lane McDermott Jernigan Jr.'s Obituary
Lane McDermott Jernigan Jr., age 73, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away on January 25, 2024, at home. He was born on February 28, 1950, in Fort Worth, Texas. Lane lived life with the spirit of a rock star and found success early on with a career in radio, always knowing what he wanted and making it happen.
He was loyal and deeply devoted to his friends and family. If you were a friend, you were a friend for life. If you were family, he loved unconditionally and treasured spending time with those he loved so dearly.
Lane was an avid golfer and he found happiness and peace on the golf course with his buddies and embracing the challenge of hitting his ball off the green further than the other guys.
Lane is survived by sister, Bettye Howard, his brother-in-law, Myron Spence Howard, and his brother, John Jernigan, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Lane's life partner was Darla Taylor and included a step-son, Matthew Taylor, and two stepdaughters, Dawn Taylor and Amy Smith, along with two step granddaughters, Alyssa Taylor and Brooklyn Taylor. Lane was preceded in death by his father, Lane Jernigan, Sr., his mother, Helen Coale DiBlasi and his sister, Deidre Ann Gladfelter.
The details of the services will be provided by Restland Funeral Home, located in Dallas, Texas. Contributions in memory of Lane can be made to Wounded Warriors, an organization that supports injured veterans.
Lane will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.
