LaQuita Bartholomew's Obituary
Quita Bartholomew was born to JD and Hazel Littrell in Commerce, Texas on September 22, 1940 and passed away in Richardson, Texas on September 23, 2022.
She graduated as an honor student from the “original” Richardson High School, Class of 1958 and was a friend to many. Her senior year accomplishments included being a cheerleader, voted “Miss Pep,” and voted Homecoming Sweetheart.
Quita graduated from Southern Methodist University majoring in English and History and was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.
In September of 1966, she became a mother to Scott Bartholomew.
She began her career with the Social Security Administration as a clerk in the Chicago, Illinois area in 1968 and enjoyed a successful career with the Social Security Administration until she retired in 1999.
In retirement, Quita actively enjoyed working with her plants or on her “acres” at the farm. She spent many years organizing catering and afternoon teas at the Dallas Arboretum. Her passion for service later found her volunteering at the Richardson Women’s Club where she was elected President for the upcoming year. Her latest project included designing and planting the club’s butterfly garden as part of their beautification project. She also took on the responsibilities of managing her family farm in Hopkins County which consisted of the daily operations of owning cattle, bailing hay, and maintaining a variety of tasks with the assistance of Ben Deaton from the Hopkins County area. Quita was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
What Quita loved most was her family, her network of lifelong friends, and working with plants and flowers at her home, her farm, and at the Richardson Women’s Club.
Quita was preceded in death by her father, JD Littrell, her mother, Neely Hazel Littrell, and her grandson Keaton Bussell. She is survived by her son, Scott Bartholomew, his wife, Deidra Bartholomew, and her grandchildren Grant and Emily Bartholomew, and Landon and Brayson Bussell.
Visitation for Quita will be held at Restland Funeral Home, Stateroom “L” on Thursday October 6, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Burial services will be held on Friday, October 7 in the Restland Memorial Chapel at 10:00 a.m. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Restland Event Center from 11:00-1:00.
