Larry Allen Cooper's Obituary
LARRY ALLEN COOPER passed from this earth on August 6, 2024. Larry was 92 years old and led a remarkable life. He was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and was the youngest of two sons. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, where he was stationed off the coast of Japan on the U.S.S. Essex. As the ship’s photographer, he captured many amazing images of the battle at sea. His older brother, Roger, also served honorably as a Colonel in the Air Force.
“Doctor” Larry Cooper had a thriving dental practice in Highland Park, just across from Southern Methodist University, and was known as one of the best and most loved dentists in Dallas. Larry not only compassionately served his patients’ dental needs, but made lasting friendships with them, as well as his staff. Larry was an avid golfer and fisherman, oftentimes getting up at the crack of dawn to be on the lake. He was also an incredible musician, starting his first saxophone gig in a jazz band at the age of 12! Larry loved painting and ballroom dancing, and he always loved a good party! He was often the life of the party!
Larry was an amazing artist and attended the New York School of Art before joining the Navy. While stationed in Washington D.C., Larry met and married his first love, Wilma Ann (Brown) Cooper.
