Larry is one of the very few Delta pilots I continued to visit and keep up with over the years. I was privileged to fly with him as my Captain on the B-727 many times in the DFW base. I also served under him on the ALPA Dangerous Goods committee and the IFALPA Dangerous Goods committee. His leadership and hard work on those committees has touched every pilot and passenger that flies. Every time you check in for a flight, on any airline, there will be a Notice to travelers that you must accept before you can continue to check in. It lists the items that are prohibited by law to be carried in your baggage or person. Larry is directly responsible for this notice. Every pilot must go to recurrent training, and a part of that is a refresher course on Dangerous Goods. ALPA’s work with the FAA is responsible for that. Larry was one of those rare folks that have the ability and talent to influence, in a positive way, a huge group of people across the world, everyone that travels on airplanes. He was a friend to me, my family, and to those that knew him. We will all miss him.

Larry was one of my favorite people to fly with. After an extended furlough for a health issue, I was having a rough time getting back in the game. Larry was assigned to fly with me and get me trained to an acceptable proficiency. He patiently coached me and helped in any way he could. I will be forever grateful.
Larry was a tireless volunteer in aviation safety. His work on limiting hazardous cargo in airliners certainly made all of us, pilots and passengers alike, much better off.
