Larry Eugene Hester, 73, of Garland, Texas, passed away on January 12, 2025, surrounded by his wife, Sharon, and mother-in-law, Gillis Couch.
Born in Dallas, Texas, Larry's passion for music blossomed early, leading him to study at SMU's School of Music. He excelled as a pianist and classical guitarist, a talent nurtured even before his graduation from Mesquite High School in 1971.
Larry's love story with Sharon began at Prestonwood Baptist Church, where their paths intertwined through shared service and friendship. Their whirlwind romance culminated in a wedding 70 days after their first date, a testament to their deep and abiding love.
Together, they built a life filled with joy, sharing a love for travel, music, and their shared faith. Larry's entrepreneurial spirit flourished in his real estate ventures and stock trading, where he generously shared his knowledge with others.
After a distinguished 43+ year career with the United States Postal Service, Larry retired in 2019, embracing a life of leisure and cherished moments with Sharon and their loved ones.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Sharon Couch; son, Travis Hester and wife, Julie; daughter, Autumn Mahaffey and husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Ethan, Olivia, Anderson, and Zoe; great-granddaughter, Alice; and a host of cherished friends and family.
A memorial service celebrating Larry's life will be held on February 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church
