Larry Thomas Landrum's Obituary
On March 13th, 2018, Larry Landrum passed with family be his side, at Baylor Hospital in Plano TX.Larry was born in the spring of 1947 in Tyler TX to Tom and Thelma Landrum. They lived most of their life in Garland where Larry graduated from Garland High School in 1965.During college, he wed his high school sweetheart Kaye and completed his Accounting degree from the University of North Texas in 1971.Larry was involved in his community via the Lions Club, the First Christian Church, the Garland High School 1965 Alumni Association, and most recently the First United Methodist Church.Larry’s career was in the domain of finance operations and technology from 1971 to 2017. He was dedicated to excellence and a pioneer in progressing the use of technology in the workplace. From 1980 to 1983 he also enjoyed a side-career as a custom home builder.The following hung in Larry’s office to be read daily, where he did his best to achieve it:“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,Courage to change the things I can,And wisdom to know the difference.”– NiebuhrLarry and Kaye raised two wonderful children, Shelly and David. Shelly wed Brian Henderson in 1990 and David wed Elise Curtis in 1993. Larry and Kaye have been blessed with three amazing grandchildren, Sam, Michelle, and Liam. They thoroughly enjoyed hosting many cousins’ weekends as Nana & Papa. Surviving In-laws include Bill & June Henderson and John & Jane Curtis.Larry’s extended family reaches from Tyler across the south to Georgia. The summers of his youth, spent with his grandparents, Gussie and Pop in Tyler, were foundational to the man he became. He enjoyed the relationships and learnings from his many Aunts and Uncles. He enjoyed keeping in touch with his Cousins thru the years.Larry lived a full life and will be deeply missed. We are celebrating the fact that he is in peace in the presence of our Lord.The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 15, 2018, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home.The service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 3:00 PM in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
