Larry Lee Miller's Obituary
Larry Lee Miller was born in Greenville, Texas on December 26, 1939, to Jesse Lee Miller and Melba Mae Hudson Miller. Larry met the love of his life Judy when she taught his younger brother, Gene Alan, at Greenville High School. The couple married on December 19, 1969, and started their lives together in a cabin on Club Lake. Together, they had two sons, Jasen and Stephen. Larry’s family and especially his five grandchildren were the light of his life.
Larry’s Christian faith was very important to him. He was a Deacon in the Baptist church as well as a Sunday School teacher throughout most of his life. He was a member of Park Cities Baptist Church and an active member of Floyd’s Faithful Sunday School class. He was a member of New Song Community Senior Choir and cherished his time there and the friendships made.
Music was very much part of his life. He was a Drum Major in high school and played numerous instruments like the clarinet, trumpet, ukulele, and organ but the piano was his favorite. He enjoyed gathering friends and family around the piano for an old-fashioned singalong, especially at Christmastime.
Larry graduated from Greenville High School in 1957 and served as president of his alumni class during the last several years. He attended Baylor University where he was in the Air Force ROTC. Larry was in the Air Force for 31 years and retired in a ceremony at the Pentagon at the rank of Colonel. He began in OSI School as a Special Agent. He was active in the Air Force Association and served as President. He was a Liaison Officer for the Air Force Academy.
He went onto the University of Texas Law School. He cheered on the Baylor Bears and Texas Longhorns in sporting events, especially the Baylor Women’s Basketball team and Texas Longhorn football. During his career he was both County Attorney and District Attorney for Hunt County, practiced criminal law and worked in the oil and gas industry.
Larry passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, with family by his side. He is preceded in death by his brother, Gene Alan, and both of his beloved parents. He is survived by his wife Judy Miller, his sons and their wives: Jasen Miller (Tisha) and Stephen Miller (Elizabeth), five grandchildren: Hudson Miller, Jaden Miller, Hana Miller, Seth Miller and Eliza Miller, and his sister, Saundra Miller.
