Larry Wayne Phillips' Obituary
Larry Wayne Phillips was born May 1, 1945, in McGregor, TX and died August 8, 2024, in Rockwall, Tx
He was preceded in death by his father, Dois Wendell Phillips and his mother, Hazel Hicks Phillips, his brother, Dois Wendell Phillips Jr., three sisters: Ladean Phillips, Bobbie Phillips Fischgrabe and Mary Phillips Ansley.
Larry is survived by his wife, Teresa Phillips, Daughter, Tammy Phillips Tyree, Granddaughter, Courtney Tyree Scheidegger and husband Randy, Grandson, Alan Tyree and wife Brittni, Great grandchildren: Aries, Eli, Brenna, Randy III, Evan, Kennedy, Emanuel and Isabella.
Larry spent his youth in Moody and Irving, Texas before joining the military where he served in the Seventh Army unit wearing the “Seven Steps to Hell” patch until 1968.
He was a great craftsman who loved woodworking and spent his work life career building cabinets and countertops.
He was an avid golfer and played the game every chance he got. He created a chipping range at our old homeplace and would spend hours practicing. He loved playing golf with his grandkids and spent lots of time with his grandson betting Dr. Peppers on who would win the round.
Larry was also a huge sports fan with a love for the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and college football.
He loved animals and helping people. For many years, every Thanksgiving he would buy turkeys to donate to those in need and at Christmas toys for children.
He will be missed by many lifelong friends, too many to list here.
He loved his family and was so proud of his daughter Tammy, AG, Courtney, Alan and all the Grands.
He had a wonderful laugh, many funny sayings and was lots of fun.
He fought a long hard battle with illness over the past few years, making the best of everyday. He was still making plans, talking about getting the soil ready for next year’s garden, changing the hummingbird solution, and anxious to get the dead spots in the front yard patched.
There will be no funeral or service at this time. Arrangement for Larry to be interred at Parker Cemetery in Rockwall, TX will be at a later date.
