My very deepest condolences to the Smith family. I began a friendship with Larry a few short years ago. He asked me if I would do some hand engraving on some of the components to his lanyards. I agreed and from there we bonded into a wonderful relationship. A gentlemen of the highest degree, ever thoughtful and caring. I will miss him dearly but will always think of him while wearing one of his hand crafted lanyards. Rest easy my friend.
I’m so sorry to hear of Larry’s passing. I was a school mate with Larry at Hughes Springs. Larry will be missed by many. Prayers go out to his family . RIP Larry .
I was Larry’s postdoctoral supervisor in 1972. While we had occasional contact after that time, I regret that it was limited. I followed his career with respect and was happy for him. My current mobility situation will prevent my attending his service. My condolences to his family.
I was so sorry to see this announcement at SMU — Larry was such a nice man. When I joined the legal staff at SMU in 1990 as Assistant University Counsel, one of my areas of responsibility was handling all contracting with outside entities for research at the university. That is when I met Larry, and his great good humor and unending patience with me, as the least scientific person on the planet, was unforgettable. I will always remember his efforts to explain what was then the “world wide web” to me, who couldn’t grasp how we could communicate this way without wires. We laughed alot. A lovely guy — it was a pleasure to work with him. My deepest condolences to his family.
Our deepest sympathies to the Smith family. We will remember you in our prayers and hope your fond memories of Larry ease the pain this loss. Heartfelt condolences, Mac & Pam MacRae
My heartfelt sympathy to Larry’s family during this time of grief. I have fond memories of visiting with Larry in Perkins Administration building during his 20 year SMU career. Kindest regards.
A gentleman whose Knotsmith craftsmanship will be worn, treasured and passed down as befits a classic. I deeply enjoyed the process of working with him to design my lanyard….he was never pleased until the customer was satisfied and that is a rare quality today. I sadly lost my lanyard a few months ago and I was a bit ashamed to tell him. His leaving makes that loss irreplaceable but the process and discussions of it’s creation will always be there and I, am the better for them.My deepest condolences to his family and to his friends….may the hole he left be filled with good memories of a fine man.
Our deepest sympathy to all the Smith family during this time of grief. May our Lord comfort you with His love and give you peace. Sincerely, James & Laura Pool
